Spring Hunt 2015

Our Spring Hunt was held on May 9th at Buckroe Beach in Hampton. We had a thin fog that would roll in and out throughout most of the day keeping the temperatures very comfortable.

We had a good turn out with 15 participants and many spectators to cheer them on. A Special Thanks to Robert and Travis for assisting with the Hunt field setup and breakdown.
Photos of the events and prizes as well as prize winners are below.

Getting Started and Setting up hunt field

Warm up Hunt and Main Hunt

As you can see it remained very foggy for all the hunts. The sun really didn't come out until it was time to give away the prizes.

"You Guess" Game

Our spring hunt saw the return of the You Guess game. Four containers were set up with one object in each container. The objects were hidden from everyone and each person was given an opportunity to use their metal detector to guess what the object was inside just by the type of readings or tone they received from their particular detector. The person guessing the object correctly got a point and the ones with the most points were awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place based on the accuracy of their guesses.

Congratulations to all our winners.

Kids Hunt

Our children are our hobby's future. Each year we have a kids hunt so they can participate too. They get their own special hunt field and some assistance from the adults. They walk away with some prizes and handfuls of coins. This year we had two participants Lexi and Travis that each had some fun finding the prizes and money seeded just for them.

Our Prize Winners

Our Hunt Masters Susan And Robert once again provided a great selection of prizes. Thanks for all you do to make our events so successful. Thank you's also go out to Ed for his generous donation of a picnic canopy and to John for his prize donations and for bringing a cooler filled with ice cold Water and Gatorade.

Once again it was a great time. Even though I do not participate in any of the competitions I enjoy seeding the prize tokens and visiting with all the people that stop by and ask questions. Also getting together with our members outside a meeting environment is a lot of fun too. Each person has their own techniques and many times during the club hunt I witnessed our members comparing notes as it were on how to use their detectors or help someone refine their settings. People having fun and enjoying each others company is what I enjoy the most about these club hunts and look forward to them each year.

Take care and I hope to see you at our next meeting or organized hunt.

Barry Merrill- HRRS President.
