Fall Hunt 2021

Our first competitive Fall hunt since the Fall of 2019 as held October 16th, 2021 at Buckroe Beach in Hampton, VA. Its been awhile and COVID has kept many of us cooped up for a bit too long. It was great to get out and search for some prizes in the sand!

Bright sunny day with a light wind and no clouds. Fantastic day! As with past hunts we took
the time to prepare the hunt field by raking and breaking up the sand before we put
the warm-up hunt tokens and coinage on the field.

Warm up Hunt

Look its a rare occurrence. Yup that's me actually hunting this year. Most years we always want the hunts to be on the up and up with no appearance of shenanigans or favoritism so I usually seed the prize tokens on the hunt field. Not this year though, a few volunteers offered to seed the tokens and take the photos so I could actually join in the fun. Had a Great Time too, Thank You! Just a few rules to pass along to our group of hunters before we start. I welcomed everyone back and thanked our Hunt Masters Susan and Robert for getting everything together.

Now Ready, Set, Hunt!

Great spectators joined in to watch the fun too. Heya Ray! Great to see you.
A New Hunt Mascot too joined in enjoying the weather and view.

Group Photo

Sorry totally my fault this year. We normally take a group photo at the beginning. I was so excited about participating this year I totally forgot and people that participated in the hunt had already headed back to their cars by the time I remembered. Sorry for those that missed out on the group shot. I will try not to forget for the Spring hunt as I want to make sure to include everyone that participates in our club events.

Special Prize Winners

Special tokens were seeded this year for prizes that were donated by other or former club members. In this case a former member sent the three old foreign coins that he found why
metal detecting overseas. I need to add the coin details so will edit this section soon.

Thanks so much Alex.

Thanks everyone for coming out and joining us on the beach for a great time. Thanks as always to Susan and Robert our Hunt-masters. The work you do in the background for prize support and to get everything ready is a lot of work and especially after such a long break between hunts to get everything together is greatly appreciated.

I also wanted to say a special thanks to our volunteers that helped seed the hunt field and
take the photos this year for me. It allowed me to participate for the first time in over 10 years.
It provided time for me to enjoy the hunt, talk to people and provided the means for this
last photo of the day of me helping one of many of the club members that came out to
support the club and my friend Ray back to his car. Thank You!

I hope everyone had as much fun as I did.

See you in the Spring!

Barry Merrill- HRRS President.
