21st Annual Treasures in the Sand

Kids Hunt Awards
We had a very good turnout for our Kids Hunt this year. Eleven children of various ages used their skills to hunt a specific area of there choice. Each area had an equal amount of treasures to be found by our young participants. Each child walked away with various denominations of coinage, a small wooden treasure box filled with various small prizes and a special minted coin set. This is one of the most rewarding parts of the Fall Hunt to us at HRRS as we know our kids are the future of our hobby.

Adult Hunt Awards
As with other hunts in the past this year was no different in the variety and quantity of prizes we handed out to our participants. Not only do our participants find clad coinage along with silver and gold while out searching the field, various tokens are buried in the sand to turn in at the end of the event for larger prizes. There is no way I can mention all the prizes that we gave away at our event but some of the most sought after prizes were the gift baskets filled with detector gear, limited edition coins and coin sets, and of course the two metal detectors that we had this year. After a day of searching the sand and knowing you have a token good for a prize the Award Ceremony is always a fun time for everyone. With a variety of tokens seeded during each event you never know what you might get. The list of what each token is good for is kept secret all day and its only at the Award Ceremony do our participants find out if that odd looking piece of metal with a number stamped in it is good for the prize they have been eyeing at on the prize tables.

Detector Tokens
With a specific token each gave a choice to choose an envelope. Four envelopes were good for the runner's up prize of a minted coin and one envelope good for the metal detector. This method of awarding the detector has been an exciting way to hand out these cherished prizes.	During our club hunts the most sought after tokens are those for our metal detectors. For this years event a total of ten specific tokens were hidden for a chance to win one of the two detectors. These tokens were then spilt into two categories giving a 1 in 5 chance of winning a detector.

Special Thanks and Appreciation
I would like to send out a special thank you to Susan & Robert Hayes for putting together a fantastic group of prizes for our Adult Hunt and Maureen & John Miller and Jack Rezabek for a equally exciting blend of prizes for our Kids Only Hunt. These events take a lot of planning and preparation and without this group of people our Fall Hunt would not have been possible nor would we have had the wide range of prizes to hand out.

Thank you to all those that attended our Fall Hunt. HRRS appreciates your participation and hope you had a lot of fun during our event. Our events take quite a bit of planning throughout the year to gather the sponsors, purchase and organize the prizes as well as securing the necessary permits to make an event of this size successful. We hope to see everyone at our next planned event and HRRS will continue to spread the word about our club and its continued interest in this family oriented hobby.
