Spring Hunt 2026

Our first competitive hunt of 2026 was held on April 18, 2026 at Buckroe Beach in Hampton, VA. The weather was perfect. No wind, bright sunshine, and mild temperatures. The beach was clean and powder soft which made seeding for the hunt super easy. We started setting up around 8 am and enjoyed coffee, donuts, and water until we started around 9:30 to a small group of hunters ready to find the tokens.

Getting Set Up

First Hunt

Warm up hunt just to make sure everything works correctly.
This hunt usually only lasts about 15 minutes but givers everyone to work the bugs out
and get used to others styles and techniques as well as set the pace.

Second Hunt "Main Hunt"

This is where the correct pace and technique really come into play as there are alot of tokens
as well as clad coinage on the field to find. If you take took long looking for the find you might miss out on another token. Our hunt masters do a great job of using a variety of metal types
for the tokens so if you notch anything out you may miss a valuable prize. This hunt
usually lasts about 30 minutes and rarely is their anything left on the hunt field afterwards.

Prizes

Just some of the prizes that were awarded.

Prize Winners

All sorts of prizes from Gift cards, Display cases, Coin books, magnifying glasses and the coveted silver dollars and painted special design coins. We had a great assortment and
everyone that hunted this year took away at least one prize. Waiting to turn in a token to
see what you get is alot of fun too, especially with the wide variety of prizes available.

Thanks everyone for coming out and joining us for the hunt as well as our spectator members
cheering everyone on. It was a great time to catch up with those you don't see at every meeting.

Thanks as always to Susan and Robert our Hunt masters. We are grateful for
everything you do behind the scenes to purchase prizes throughout the year to
get the best prices, plus organizing all the tokens and calculating the target hits per person.

Thank you to Carol that served as token seeder, photographer, and timer for our hunt.

See you all in the Fall of 2026 for our next hunt!

Barry Merrill- HRRS President.
